Entry level Accountant
What do accountant
do their first few years? This is a question I
asked before reading a book that tells you all about accountants. I wanted to
know what type of work I will be during my first few years in the
field. This book answered all my
questions about the things accountants do at an entry level and their daily routine.
Entry level
accountants are called tax staff accountants; they hold this position between
1-3 years.They prepare tax
returns, research tax issues, and counsel clients on tax matters under the
supervision of a tax senior or manger. As a tax staff, you are basically shadowing
a tax senior/manger and training throughout the process. Learning all the basic aspects of the job,
like how to gather information from clients for a return, the process of doing a
tax return, and how to prepare documents based on their new research finding. This information was helpful because it gives me an idea what
to expect when entering my career.

Hi Remi,
ReplyDeleteI liked your post and that you're preparing yourself for the beginning years of your career. This post caught my attention because my sister is a first year accountant for Marathon Oil Company. I thought I'd share her experiences in hopes of helping you better understand the different things you could be experiencing in the beginning of your career. My sister works for Marathon as the contractor billing accountant so basically everyone that comes in and works at the refinery that isn't a Marathon employee, their company bills Marathon for the work their people do there. Then, my sister turns all of their hours into financial numbers and when invoices come, she makes sure that they weren't under or over paid. If you have any questions about accounting I'd be happy to answer them or forward them to my sister to answer them.
DeleteThank you, I will certainly ask you for help if I have any questions.
