Open post 2 Expectation for staff accountant

Expectation for a staff accountant
When you are an entry level accountant, you have certain expectations to follow by and are expected to keep track of time in meetings, so that the meetings can proceed in a timely manner. “Staff accountants" keep a written record of their time, usually in 15 minute increments” (Phillips and Crain). It helps the company to know how much time to bill the clients for time spent on the project.
You should know how to properly use a ten-key calculator because staff accountants frequently use a ten-key calculator.” (Phillips and Crain)  It is part of your daily job description because you use it for everything from tax return, to planning and reporting. A ten key calculator increases efficiencies when having to key a certain amount of numerical numbers.
“Staff accountants are expected to participate actively in community service/ organizations."  Giving back to the community is important to the firm because it gives them a good reputation, and everyone is encouraged to do community service

Open Post 1 Busy Season

 Busy Season

Accountants usually work Monday - Friday 8-10 hours a day, 45-50 hours a week. These hours can be altered depending on what season it is. The most busiest season for public clients generally last from January to April; for government clients, July through August. When working during a time that is very busy, you could work up to 20 hours a day, which will bring along longer work days.
